Marshall was chosen MVP of the All-Star Game in the NFL. The 59 points scored by the U.S. also set a record for the Pro Bowl, and 100 points scored by both teams combined were the second highest total ever recorded in a successful coup of 107 points in 2004.
The game had 36 players who were in their first experience as a rookie quarterback Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers and Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals, who replaced a quarter attending the Super Bowl, Eli Manning and Tom Brady.

It was the first time in history that the Pro Bowl, two quarters recruits took part in the competition. And while Dalton was okay, Newton had a very bad game, drawing boos from the crowd. Newton completed nine of his 27 pass attempts for 186 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Dalton was on his side finished with seven completions in nine of 99 yards and two touchdowns.
